The St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation works in partnership with residents and stakeholders to create, promote, and implement strategies and programs that connect plans, policies and people to drive compelling community development opportunities.

OUR VISION STATEMENT

The St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation is designed to support private sector/private nonprofit and public human services organizations committed to person-centered, outcomes-based, data-driven work that advances racial equity using generational, whole family approaches. The St. Paul’s Community Development Corporation will learn with organizations that go beyond traditional human services delivery methods and move toward new ways to create permanent pathways to economic empowerment.

OUR GOALS

  • To serve as a capacity-building entity with a focus on systemic change;

  • To foster community improvement through a comprehensive process of revitalization that seeks to protect, enhance and promote urban living;

  • To promote the commercial and residential growth and development of the community;

  • To facilitate community problem solving and encourage informed input on issues affecting the day-to-day functions of the community;

  • To research, procure, purchase, rehabilitate, resell, redevelop, release, or otherwise dispose of such buildings, sites, structures or other elements within the community;

  • To hold meetings and other activities for the instruction, education and the provision of information to the public;

  • To cooperate with and assist individuals, groups, governmental bodies, officials and employees of governments to carry out the purposes of the SPCDC and to cooperate with municipal, educational, cultural, civic and philanthropic organizations or individuals in the city of Norfolk;

  • To solicit and accept endowments, grants, contributions, and donations of money, real property or other property for the above purposes;

  • To educate all residents, businesses and organizations within the SPCDC’s boundaries in matters of community development, wealth and capacity building, and community empowerment;

  • To improve the quality of health care, reduce disparities, and create high-performing, sustainable health systems with the application of healthcare analytics tools in the community; and,

  • To ensure decision making will reflect continuous input, transparency and feedback from residents and all other stakeholders.
